Grazia started this year’s L’Oreal Paris runway show with a bang on Monday night. The first runway show was inspired by the debauched decade of the 80’s with stellar collections from Alice McCall, Camilla and Marc, Collette Dinnigan, Fleur Wood, LIFEwithBIRD, Nicola Finetti, Sass & Bide and Toni Maticevski, all brought together to tell a tale of “tough love”.
Some of my favourite collections of the night were from Fleur Wood and Alice McCall. Wood’s collection was all about black lace, fancy head masks, pink tutu’s, dashes of gold and tailored jackets. Give me lashings of anything with black lace and I’ll be one happy lady.
McCall’s collection was a combination of soft florals, little black dresses and the occasional black leather shorts. The florals were done perfectly, not too girly but grunged up with killer boots (which I loved!) that all came together very sexy and chic.
I also loved Sass & Bides fishnet stockings with their signature gold and silver beading as well as Toni Maticevski’s deep V-neck feather mini.
Grazia did not disappoint in any aspect of entertainment. Hair and makeup was done right on the runway stage with model Mink Sadowsky directing the whole stint in an amazing L’Oreal lab coat infused with fluoro paint down the front. A live feed of backstage antics was also screened during the show for the audience’s keen eye which included interviews by former MTV VJ Lyndsey Rodrigues alongside hair director Brad Ngata and makeup artist Rae Morris.
Can’t wait for the L’Oreal Paris Runway 2!
