LMFF Metamorphosis Student Showcase supported by Frankie Magazine

I love Frankie. They’re so unique, arty, creative and just so pretty to look at; and so were the collections by some of Australia’s most talented student designers. The Metamorphosis Student Showcase, presented by Sportsgirl, was scheduled on Wednesday night after the fourth L’Oreal Paris Runway. This student showcase celebrates the future of Australian fashion and showcased the debut collections designed by Aussie fashion graduates. This year’s showcase included designs from graduates Albert Lee, Alyssa Choat , Christiana Livaditis, Daniella Caputi, Danielle van Champ, Ellie Meyer, Georgia Lazzaro, Jacqueline Tyrell, Laura de Vries, Olivia Jung, Robyn Taggart and Yoan Hendrik Limah.

The pieces and designs that walked the runway were very attention-grabbing, exciting, inspiring and above all else, avant-garde – which I absolutely love! Garments were very fashion-forward; from the draping to the slashing of fabric, right down to the cut-outs and the choice of fabric itself.

But there was one clear favourite collection for me and that was most definitely PRUFROCK aka Ellie Meyer’s collection. It was stunning. Other designers should watch out for this talented lady. Her pieces were eccentric and unique using a colour palette of crèmes and black. Not one outfit disappointed me. It was very inspiring to see such talent come from a student.

Another piece that caught my eye included a crème coloured jacket and high waisted skirt that was paired with a black bikini-style top by Alyssa Choat.

Hmphh I feel like I should go out and buy me a sewing machine now..
