Australian chart-toppers Faker will launch Sydney's premiere pop-up fashion market Bizarre Bazaar next week.
The rockers will headline the market which returns to regular spot Sussex Lane on January 19.
The first pop-up event of the year will also act as a launching pad for its online store, in collaboration with online fashion portal, Young Republic. A Series of Fortunate Events has joined forced with online marketplace Young Republic to transform the monthly pop-up market Bizarre Bazaar into an exclusive online shopping portal.
The collaboration will give emerging designers a chance to occupy a Sydney laneway once a month, whilst reaching shoppers nationally and globally via the dedicated portal and online site thisisfortunate.com
Launching Bizarre Bazaar’s 2012 campaign sees a selection of the markets designers take centre stage: Natasha Dwyer, Arthur Ave; Atlanta Reade, ATAT/Chosen By; Curtis Vella & Domenic Quaranta, Fluktu8; Victoria Cheatham, Lotus Mendes; Gail Cowan, Sugarland; and Karen Fulton, Zipporra.
The talent gathered at Sydney’s newest ‘it’ nightspot, 21, to shoot what is "our most exciting campaign to date," according to Project Director, Christopher McLaren.
"Bizarre Bazaar is an invaluable support platform for emerging designers promoting their labels on a local level," spoke designer Pip Houghton, creative force behind resin jewellery label it was me., who also starred in this month’s campaign.
Introducing Faker’s gutsy performance and the laneway fashion show will be crowd favourites Soul Patrol featuring DJ Adam Jacob and vocalist Arrnott Olssen. The fashion show will combine elements from Bizarre Bazaar’s participating designers and will see the laneway transformed into an image of light, colour and splendour thanks to pop-up gurus Guerilla Gigs.
Bizarre Bazaar supports and connects Sydney’s emerging fashion designers by showcasing their designs at intimate monthly markets. With the addition of the Bizarre Bazaar online store via shopping hotspot Young Republic, the project can continue to provide visibility and accessibility to participating designers.
Funded by A Series of Fortunate Events, partnered venues and designers for designers, Bizarre Bazaar is a community project that aims to provide valuable public exposure to grassroots fashion designers and strengthen Sydney’s love of local fashion.
