Bizarre Bazaar Unites the Sussex Lane Community

Sydney’s premier fashion market Bizarre Bazaar will return to Sussex Lane next Thursday, February 16th. Bizarre Bazaar’s online store via fashion hub Young Republic continues to flourish, as the February instalment of the pop-up project sees the selection of online designers grow in size.

Featured in this month’s breathtaking campaign, shot by Revka Photography, are models Rosie Morris and Collette Parker, wearing a selection of garments by Bizarre Bazaar regular Sugarland, and handpicked vintage threads by resident stylist Sarah Massie.

The ninth consecutive Bizarre Bazaar market brings to the table designers Zipporra, Lonely Kids Club, Trulele and newcomers My One True Love: a cross-section of the market’s offering from cheeky jewellery and hand-dyed Summer frocks to tees with attitude and pop-colour handbags.

Louka Momberg, owner and operator of Sussex Lane’s Shirt Bar spoke about the event: "I love how events such as Bizarre Bazaar are helping put Sydney's laneways on the map. These quirky pop up markets with live music bring new faces to Sussex Lane every month and we love the buzz it creates.” Resident whiskey house Shirt Bar and neighbour Small Bar will host soul diva Paulini Curuenavuli next month, as twilight kisses Sussex Lane.

“Bizarre Bazaar is a great platform to display our creativity to potential customers and clients, because of its modern fresh look and unique laneway presence – you get all sorts of interesting people coming through, not to mention the word of mouth element,” spoke designer Natasha Dwyer, from regular Bizarre Bazaar participant Arthur Ave.

Delivering smooth soul beats will be crowd favourite Soul Patrol featuring DJ Adam Jacob and vocalist Arrnott Olssen. The fashion show will combine elements from Bizarre Bazaar’s participating designers and flow to the beat of Adam Jacob’s decks.

Bizarre Bazaar is the platform for Sydney’s emerging designers. It brings not only a live showcase of talented designers to the public each month, the project can now extend its support of grassroots talent with the online store via shopping hotspot Young Republic. Bizarre Bazaar delivers second-to-none sales and media exposure to local talent.

Funded by A Series of Fortunate Events, partnered venues and designers for designers, Bizarre Bazaar is a community project that aims to provide valuable public exposure to grassroots fashion designers and strengthen Sydney’s love of local fashion.
