Straight up: on the streets in Sydney online

The rise of photographic portraiture taken on the street has become nothing short of an addiction for the fashion obsessed. Made possible by the internet and cheaper digital photography, street-fashion blogs have sprung up all over the world.

Influenced by ‘the straight up’ movement of i-D magazine and social documentation of blogs such as The Sartorialist, Powerhouse Museum’s online project invites the public to get involved by taking their own pictures on the streets of Sydney, and posting on the Museum’s Sydney Design Flickr group using the tag ‘straightup’. The images should incorporate a short message or story responding to the festival theme ‘tell us a story’.

Be creative, impulsive and edgy. By recording the street trends of your neighbourhood, Straight up: on the streets in Sydney will be a snapshot of urban style from all corners of this exciting city.

Images can be uploaded at any time and photos will be displayed on screen at the Museum.
