Donnie Bishop Scores Reinaldo
Brisbane-based lifestyle brand Donnie Bishop has struck a new goal, scoring Brisbane Roar striker Reinaldo as its newest brand ambassador.
"With the World Cup just around the corner, we wanted a football-playing ambassador who incorporated the classy street feel of the Donnie Bishop lifestyle and took our customers with him," said Donnie Bishop co-founder and MD, Jason Sandhar.
"A mutual friend put us in touch with Reinaldo."
The Brazilian import said he liked the different styles and exclusive designs created by Donnie Bishop - "and the truth is, the T-shirts are very comfortable to wear," he said.
Australia hasn't quite caught up in the international style stakes, and Reinaldo was having difficulties finding clothes that suited him - and then he came across the cult of Donnie Bishop.
"After seeing our clothes and previous photo shoots, he wanted to be a part of the Donnie Bishop experience and was keen for a photo shoot in something he would wear outside of football," Sandhar said
"In Brazil there are a lot of brands to choose from, but if you want nice shirts you have to find very high quality products," Reinaldo said.
"I liked the fact Donnie Bishop is unique; it's something that I've been looking for since living in Australia but never found before. It has been difficult for me to find a brand like Donnie Bishop, which can create nice shirts and caps."
Reinaldo's teammates are impressed with his new style - "Now that I wear it, all the soccer players have been asking me where they can get it from," he revealed.
"It's something you can wear casually, or even going out, as it is very good quality. I hope to see this brand in Brazil one day as I’m sure it will be very successful."
Reinaldo has just wrapped up the latest campaign photo shoot for Donnie Bishop, with photographer Scott Burke from Brisbane.
"I liked the previous photo shoot Donnie Bishop had done which I saw on the website, and I was ecstatic to be associated with the brand when they had asked me to model for them," Reinaldo said.
"As Reinaldo is travels interstate with games, we had to find a central location which would also fit the style," Sandhar said. "We'd always planned to do a photo shoot in the Brisbane CBD, but hadn't found the right model until now."
"We had Reinaldo, who is an amazing football player, and Scott our photographer, whose passion outside of photography is also soccer. They already had a respect for each other in their own fields before the first click.
"We wanted the photos to show that anyone can wear Donnie Bishop, and you don’t have to spend hundreds just to dress well."
It was only the second time Reinaldo had been in a photo shoot.
"With the Donnie Bishop clothing being such a casual/ dressy urban style, and Reinaldo being such a skilful professional footballer, I wanted to bring the two elements together with a street football feel," photographer Scott Bourke said. "Brisbane has some great alleyways in the city, and these provided us a great environment for a street football theme.
"Reinaldo was a natural. He had very relaxed attitude to the shoot and it is apparent in the photos. His football skills are amazing - the ability to juggle a football with those square toed dress shoes was awesome to watch. He is certainly an athletic guy that looks after his body. He also comes across as a great family man."
Reinaldo is heading back to Brazil in the off-season for holidays, taking with him the chance for Donnie Bishop to enter a new market.
"With online buying being available, he can bring awareness to new consumers in Brazil we may not have been able to capture otherwise," Sandhar said.
